KATE, Stylist - About Our Team

Started at Salon Bordeaux: August 2009

 Kate has been a hairstylist for 15 years and absolutely loves every minute of it!  Knowing from an early age that this is what she wanted to do, Kate attended Blaine the hair and Beauty Academy in Boston right after high school.  After graduating she was accepted into an apprenticeship program studying under some of Boston's most talented and respected hairstylist's. During this time Kate was educated in advanced cut and color, blow-dry styling and special occasion hair.

Kate makes it a point to always keep up to date on the changing trends of hair, attending several classes throughout the year.  Most recent adventures have been receiving her certification in the Keratin Complex smoothing system.  This smoothing system is a life saver for most people, cutting down styling time by 80% and making the hair as "maintenance free" as possible.

 

One of her favorite types of hair to style is curly hair.  Kate loves being able help her curly haired clients embrace their curls, trying to offer styling tips and advice so they are able to repeat the hairstyle at home.  Her goal with every client is that you leave the salon not only loving your hair, but having the knowledge and the tools to style it yourself.  A good haircut should require a small amount of effort to do, and more importantly, is a reflection of you and your personality!

 

Kate's  Favorite Products & Styling Tips:

 

Redken's Ringlet 07 Curl Perfector :  This should be in everyone's bathroom that has curly hair!  Ringlet 07 is a lotion that you apply to wet hair and either diffuse or air dry.  The product will give you clumpy, uniformed curls.  It also helps maintain frizz and has a medium hold.  For thicker coarser hair, pair with the Ringlet 07 Gel.

 

Pureology's Super Smooth Smoothing Cream:  This is a must have for anyone who blow dries or flat irons their hair.  Apply when wet and heat style as usual.  You will have noticeably softer, shinier hair.  You can also apply to hair wet and air dry, it will help reduce frizz and give shine for those air dry summer days.  All Pureology's products have UVA/UVB protectors in them, helping to keep your color looking better longer and reducing fadeage.  A must have for living in southern California, and great for layering under other styling products.

 

Pureology's Root Lift:  This is a life changing product for anyone battling flat hair.  Very simply, spray at the root and blow dry.  Add Velcro rollers or a curling iron for a voluminous look that will last all day.  **pair this product with Redken's Wool Shake for that separated, wavy look that you see in magazines.
